Do not mistake this park for the main Namaqua National Park, which is a bit inland from this coastal park.
This campsite is situated just a km from Groen river gate. This camp sits on a rocky shore and has a beautiful small beach, literally on the sea.
The sites are quite large. There are no ablutions, just an enviro-loo. There is also no shade, electrical power points, no showers, no warm water or laundry. Make sure that you take all your own supplies like drinking water, food, wood etc. before entering the park. There is wood available at Groen river gate, but it is recommended that you bring your own wood.
It may be better to phone the park directly for accommodation. Or alternatively use the email contact details we provide. You will have to register on Sanparks website, and then make online reservations and pay in minutes.
A Wild Card will get you free entry if you have one, but you would still need to pay camping fees.
If you exit the park at Groenriviermond you can travel a long way along the coast.
The Groenrivier office is the SanParks office for the southern section of Namaqua National Park (Namaqua Coast National Park). Apart from a spot close to this office, there is no cell signal in the park.
Wood, ice and drinking water are for sale at the office.
Reservations mandatory.

INFO:
For more info on travelling in the park, contact Sandy at coast.of.diamonds@gmail.com.
ROADS INFO:
The areas on the Tracks4africa maps that show roads as sandy are indeed VERY sandy. If you don't deflate your tyres you may get stuck.
Sanparks has put up signposts and recommendations about tyre pressure at these sandy patches now. A 4x4 is required for very sandy areas, but there are alternative gravel roads as by-passes. A 4x2 will do as long as the sandy areas are avoided. Do not attempt the coastal area with a sedan car, as the tracks are just a little too corrugated for a small vehicle. (Jan-2015).
WATER:
Reportedly there is water at this campsite, but it is very salty. (Nov-14).
WEATHER:
Beware of weather extremes hereā¦.south easters blow, and there has been reports of a north-westerly storm during December 2011 with night time temperatures of less than 5 degrees. A week later it was sunshine, warm and basically no wind.
This is the only camp of the pristine coastal camps in Namaqua National Park that has water. The water, however, is salty and only for washing and cooking. Bring your own drinking water.
