Stone Camp (Mkhaya Game Reserve)

Stone Camp is situated almost in the center of the reserve, on a dry riverbed with ancient, tall Fig, Leadwood, Knob Thorn Trees and a Giant Sausage Tree that forms the center of the camp. A heavily wooded under-canopy gives the camp a year-round subtropical appearance.
The camp has a single summerhouse, which serves as the Reception area, which includes the bar, a small lounge and a curio shop. This also serves as the administration point. Guest toilets are situated at the back of the summerhouse. Directly in front of the summerhouse are the main dining areas comprising of the thatched dining lapa, fireplace and under the sausage tree.
There is a smaller thatched lapa, where the conservation battles of Mkhaya are laid out in detail, along with skeletal specimens of some mammals and other interesting artifacts found on Mkhaya. Of special interest is the full fetus of a baby white rhino in the lounge area of summerhouse.
The main family unit of Nkonjane Chalet is situated to the right of summerhouse from the entrance. The remaining of the 11 Chalets are scattered along the main path to the left of summerhouse, some on the river, others on the elevated edge of the riverine forest. (Provided by Big Game Parks).
