Travelling Information
Self Drive Access : Yes
Vehicle Type : 4WD
ACCESS:
During the rainy season from December to April, the roads can be very difficult, a 4WD is then recommended. The cotton soil becomes impassable, so travelling to the lodge is only possible by boat from the western side of the Shire River(Ulongwe Rd). This means that you will have to leave your vehicle on the western side and stay in either Mvuu Lodge or tent camp. They do however guard the vehicles. If you do try and reach the lodge campsite and get stuck, Mvuu lodge will assist you at a fee, if you can reach them via phone. (Jan-13).
GAME VIEWING:
During November 2012 a visitor reported that the floodplains of the Shire river were filled with game and many newborns!
Travel Tip!
Arrange Rhino Tracking with the rangers in the Rhino Boma.
