The campsites at Fat Monkeys are on the lake shore under large mango trees. The ablution facilities also have areas for washing dishes and doing laundry. Although camp management do not allow the villagers onto the property, the beach in front of the campsite is used by the local community, so it can be noisy. Power outages are a constant problem in this area in Malawi and as the site has limited backup power facilities, campers may not be able to keep fridges and camper vans constantly charged.

Directions

Head for Monkey Bay and about 5 km's before this town take the road to the left at the junction. It's well signposted: Engen filling station on the left, huge Baobab tree on the right. From this point it's another 18 km's.
