ID: w261860 View large map

Located in South Africa :: Western Cape (Garden Route)  :: Vleesbaai
Category: Attraction :: Picnic Spot

This picnic area offers opportunity for many different activities. Anglers cast their lines from the many rocky outcrops along the coast line with great success. Another favourite is to bring your family and friends for an afternoon braai at one of the many designated spots.

The Fransmanshoek Conservancy operates an information centre building at the point that displays the local natural heritage and historical artefacts and information from of the area.

The Oystercatcher hiking trail passes through here, while wood covered paths offer opportunities to explore the fauna and flora of the area on foot. There are many coastal bird species to observe perched on the rocks or diving for food.

You can even get lost in the clover leaf labyrinth.

Or you can just take a seat on one of the benches or rocky outcrops and watch the sun set over the bay towards Kanon in the west.

There is one large parking area close to the point with smaller parking areas along the roads. Ablution facilities are available at the larger parking areas.
