Early missionaries that were sent to Matabeleland would often need to seek an audience with the king. In these early days, they were made to wait until the king was ready to meet with them. This tree marks the camping spot where they often stayed. At one time Alexander Boggie, a potential prospector was chained to this tree by order of Lobengula, who had tired of his constant pleas for mining concessions.
