Ntchisi Forest Lodge sits on the foot of one of the last remaining indigenous rainforests in an isolated spot near Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital. You can relax whilst enjoying stunning mountain and lake views, experience the warm-hearted hospitality of a part of rural Malawi where tourists are still a rarity, and enjoy relaxing and walking in the beautiful scenery. From Lilongwe, take the M1 north past the airport. At Mponela, take the right turn on tarmac road, signposted ‘T350 Ntchisi’. After approx 35 km, you pass Ntchisi Hospital and the road comes to a T-junction. Turn right on to the dirt road, signposted for ‘Dowa’. Follow road for approx 10 km. Shortly after passing a tall radio transmitter take the left turn, signposted ‘Ntchisi Forest Lodge’. Follow this road for approx 12 km. Once you pass through the large village of Chintembwe, you will find yourself on a ridge road with the tree-covered Ntchisi mountain on your right. Take the next right turn by a small, yellow house, signposted ‘Ntchisi Forest Lodge’. Follow this road straight for approx 4 km to Ntchisi Forest Lodge. This road is about 120 km and takes about 2 hours drive
From Nkotakota drive south on the Lakeshore Road (M5). Pass the turnoff on your left to Nkhotakota Pottery (about 20 km south of Nkhotakota town) Carry on for a further 20 km until you reach the Mwansambo turnoff on your right, signposted Mwansambo Health Centre and with lots of small shops lining the turn-off. Turn right onto the dirt road, where you can soon see the forested Ntchisi Mountain straight ahead in the distance. Carry on straight for 45 km, following the main road & ignoring all small offshoots. Eventually you come to a T-junction, where Ntchisi Forest Lodge is signposted to the right. Turn right and follow this road for 1 km into the forest reserve. The lodge is on your right soon after entering the forest. This road is about 95 km and takes about 2,5 hour drive.
