On top of a rocky ridge, overlooking the bushveld and Drakensburg mountains, isiLimela Lodge self catering chalets are located 42 km north of Hoedspruit in the Parsons Nature Reserve, which lies on the northern bank of the mighty Olifants river, part of the 40 000ha Balule Private Nature Reserve.

This small and exclusive self catering bush camp is ideal for bush lovers to use as a base, to explore the natural beauty of the Panorama Route and the surrounding attractions the area has to offer. Alternatively, just chill out to the sights and sounds of the bush, or do absolutely nothing but stare at the views of the Drakensberg Mountains and bushveld.

Each chalet is conveniently equipped for self catering, with fridge/freezer, microwave, two plate hot plate, crockery and cutlery as well as a braai area. The superior chalets each have air conditioning, a fan, twin beds, a bath and both indoor and outdoor showers. The family chalet has air-conditioning- twin beds, a bathroom with shower and toilet and a separate toilet. This chalet's kitchen area is outdoor, on the patio. Breakfast is available by prior arrangement. (Aug-16).

Directions

Travelling from Gauteng:
Travel in an Easterly on the N4. Take the Belfast turn-off (Vermooten Street). From Belfast, turn right onto the R540. Travel through Dullstroom to Lydenburg. Navigate through Lydenburg (left into Viljoen, left into Voortrekker). Turn right onto the R36 to Ohrigstad and then onto Hoedspruit (R36/R527). You can then either follow the R36/R527 to Hoedspruit and then follow 'From Hoedspruit.'

Or : there is a shorter route by doing the following:
Turn left at the R36 Tzaneen turn off after the tunnel. After approx. 14km, turn right on to the R530 Phalaborwa road. At the T-junction, turn left on to the R40 which comes from Hoedspruit. After Samey Engen +- 2km, turn right onto the gravel road signposted 'Balule Parsons Gate' From Balule Parsons Gate Signboard. Follow the road for 5.5km to the Parson's Gate where you will pay R50.00 entrance fee. Proceed along the dirt road until you get to a 3 way fork - take the middle path. Then keep right until you see the isiLimela signboard. Turn right into the driveway.

isiLimela Lodge is situated in the eastern lowveld which has a subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and warm, dry winters. The Lodge is owner-managed and the infrastructure is all situated on land owned by the lodge. The owners subscribe to the conservation objectives set out in the Parsons Nature Reserve constitution and have adopted a policy of non-interference with nature, and aspire to live in harmony with nature and minimize their impact on the environment.
