You can park at the Houhoek Farmstall and make use of a road that has been fenced off and blocked with a deep ditch. In a couple of years it might be overgrown and non-existent!
Then go up the mountain on a fire break, hence also unofficial! At the top you get a jeep track that circles this (old) military site of Denel.
Some people call it “Denel” as it used to house a top secret military missile launching site guarded by a stainless steel fence, no-mans land, barb wire with electric fencing, again no-mans land and again stainless steel fencing. The no-mans land used to be patrolled by guard dogs.
Security has been lapsed! Now there is a good footpath joining the 4x4 track to a forestry road that leads back to the fire break and down.
This all circumnavigates this fenced-off site. Most is fynbos with lovely views. It is not any kind of official trail and it is definitely not Denel property. It is all outside their fenced in area.
Half of area is definitely forestry where one can possibly get a permit and you will see signs of some MTB challenge, so they make use of the area and the other section is fynbos.
