Booking

The camping area is situated in the dune forest on the landward side of the first dune, +-150m from the beach. The campsites are semi-private, well screened off but not isolated. All sites are mostly shady, but there are places for the charging of guests’ solar panels. A wash-bay at each campsite, with cold running water. A plug point at each campsite. This is from our solar power system so obviously not for any appliance with an element, please.

No own generators, please. No braai facilities, so please bring your own braai equipment. Strictly no dogs or other pets are allowed. Power to campsites may be off from 8pm to 8am depending on weather and power consumption. Although the use of guests’ generators is not allowed, please expect us to use ours as it is a backup to our solar system. When usage of our electricity is high, we use our generator to supplement the power. We do so at times when guests are most likely out of camp. When it is cloudy and rainy, we run our generator as much as we need to, to keep the electricity on.

The generator is placed in the back of a vehicle which is parked about 40meters away from camp. We do try to make it as quiet as possible. Ablutions consist of 10 individual bathrooms with hot water showers and flush toilets. There are set times for hot water at the ablution blocks morning and evening. The borehole water in the ablution blocks and at the campsites is not for drinking as it is not purified and is stained with tannins from the plants in the wetlands and with iron and other minerals in the sand.

Our home-beach is a known sea turtle nesting site. Please respect them at all times. They are very sensitive to being disturbed, also by light, while preparing to nest. When you see the females out on the beach, please keep your distance, BEHIND the female. Nesting season is from November to January. Hatchling season is from January to the end of March. If you come across hatchlings do not pick them up to take to the water. This is bad for them as they need the crawling time on the beach to develop their lungs and swimming muscles. Please keep off the dunes as these are sensitive areas. Strictly no alcohol allowed on Mozambican beaches. The park rangers do drive the beach and check.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE MONKEYS OR ANY OTHER CREATURES. PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB NESTING SEA TURTLES
The camp will have as small an environmental footprint as possible, and guests are asked to take the wellbeing of the environment into account at all times. This beautiful spot is remote and safe, with wetlands to the west, pristine forested dunes to the north and the south, and the beach and ocean to the east. The wetlands make much of the land uninhabitable, therefore this area has always been, and still is, very sparsely populated.
