Birdwatching Matobo Hills IBA (Important Birding Area)

The granite koppies (known as inselbergs or "dwala" in Zimbabwe) of the Matobo Hills, interspersed with grassy plains and vleis are home to Corn Crake and Cape Vultures. It includes the Matobo National Park, known for the variety of raptors that includes at least 50 species and is of the highest diversity and density in the world. Verreaux's Eagle and Black Stork nest on the koppies while Boulder chat, White-throated Robin-chat and Miombo Double-collared Sunbird are found in the hills. Both Yellow- and Red-billed Oxpeckers are found in the park.
