Balfour is a small town in Mpumalanga, South Africa, situated approximately 80 km southeast of Johannesburg. Located within the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality, the town was originally founded in 1828 as a mission station. Initially known as McHattiesburg, it was later renamed in 1905 in honor of British Prime Minister Arthur Balfour. Balfour’s economy is mainly supported by maize farming and coal mining activities.
