“We booked at Swallowtail Country Estate in the Hogsback for 3 nights camping and paid our deposit. Unfortunately my husband fell ill and was admitted to hospital on the day of our planned departure to the Eastern Cape. I immediately contacted the owners of Swallowtail to postpone our booking by a few days, but we were not allowed to move the dates of our arrival, not even with proof from the doctor and the hospital. We understand that the deposit was non-refundable and did not expect them to refund us. However, we found it quite unusual that they were totally inflexible and therefore refused that we move the dates of our arrival as a result of such unforeseen circumstances and in spite of medical proof from the hospital. Unplanned things can happen to anyone, and normally most accommodation companies do take such unavoidable and unplanned circumstances into consideration - even at the Kruger National Park and private B&B's this applies. ” - Elizabeth du Preez, 2015/04/02
