Pierre van Rhyneveld Nature Area 16 ha of natural, open, rocky plains, an open green area. The area is protected by Nature conservation subsection of the City of Tshwane. This area is threatened by urban development. The area has birdlife and small mammals.

The entrance to the reserve is in Hertzog Avenue. Follow the R21 south until the Nellmapius turn-off, turn right into Van Ryneveld Road; at the traffic light opposite the Total Garage turn left into Hertzog Avenue. The entrance is on the left hand side
